You must have probably heard of information security, project management, or read a publication recently on cyber security and awareness, but for Adedoyin Odunfa, an IT professional with over 20 years in professional practice, who is focused on enhancing the strategic value of IT in organizations through value-adding interventions across the Information Value Chain, and CEO of the First and Only Professional Services Firm in Africa to be accredited to the ISO27001 Global Standard for Information Security.

Adedoyin Odunfa has proven that women can also succeed in traditionally male dominated industries.

Who is Adedoyin Odunfa?

Adedoyin Odunfa is the CEO of Digital Jewels, her experience spans 2 decades of active Consulting, Business Development and Management in general and specialized areas of IT such as IT Governance, Risk & Compliance, Information Security, Project Management, E-business and Capacity Development interventions.

Adedoyin’s Education and impressive Career

Adedoyin holds a B.Sc in Computer science from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife and MBA in Information technology and Management from the City University Business School (now Cass business School) in UK. She started her career as a Software Programmer and Systems Analyst, and after her MBA, she spent time supporting Research and Facilitation at the Lagos Business School, after which she worked with an indigenous Consulting Company to lead large scale IT and Project Management interventions.

She Pioneered Information Systems and e-business practice in Philip Consulting and resigned as an Executive Director in November 2007 to start up Digital Jewels in February 2008. She is a Certified Information System Auditor (CISA), Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP), certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT), Project management Professional (PMP), Certified Cobit 5 Implementer And Assessor.

Winding around the necessary protection and assurance needed in utilizing information effectively, we make sure we are securing the information, and giving organizations the necessary amount of confidence that they need. Also we focus on Capacity building in Africa which is a big challenge, their are lots of people but not enough skills, we as business focus on the dual challenge facing Africa as a whole, governance and skills.

Adedoyin on mentorship

Aside Information security and project management, Odunfa is also a mentor on Africa’s largest entrepreneurship network, Mara Mentor, in her words “young people must learn from the mistakes and successes of mentors. She also implored young entrepreneurs to seek guidance from mentors.

Adedoyin on cyber security awareness

Adedoyin said that lack of awareness of cyber security skills are key factors affecting information security, and to help minimize Cyber attacks, Digital Jewels has introduced an information security awareness books and CDs that addresses information security and electronic banking fraud.
